Born in San Diego, Mr. Parks was a son of the late Rev. Mr. George Milton and Mrs. Gertrude Levins Parks. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert H. Parks, Jr.; his beloved step-mother, Caledonia Elizabeth Burton Parks; a sister, Caledonia Rosalee Parks Bagby; and brothers, Richard and Burton Parks. He had lived in Asheville since 1992.
Mr. Parks was an Air Force veteran and Purple Heart recipient, serving in both World War II and Korea with a rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a former resident of Houston, where he served in law enforcement.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Kellogg Parks; daughter, Sandra Forsythe; son, Randall Parks (Julie); grandchildren, Courtney and Dylan Parks, Christopher Forsythe, Brandy Jones, Jennifer Meraz, and Jocelyn Parks; brother, Elwyn Parks; sister, Georgena Parks Bailey (Ted); step-children, Suzette Parks, Irvin Lindsey, David Lindsey and Kathleen Cutchin, and a number of great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Military honors and burial were to be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date due to Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions according to the published obituary.
