Anna Catherine "Kay" Garrison Poteat, 73, of Bethlehem, passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.

Born April 5, 1945 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond M. Garrison and Violet Cottrell Garrison.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Vernon Garrison.

She was a graduate of Morganton High School and worked as a secretary at Hickory Springs until her retirement. Kay was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. This "Southern Lady" loved entertaining and decorating. She made every holiday beautiful with her painstaking decorations. She had a wonderful personality, sense of humor and the capacity to adore her family.

She is survived by her husband, Danny R. Poteat of the home; son, Mark G. Young and wife Linda of Hickory; grandchildren: Colby Young of Hickory and Lauren Young of Bethlehem; brother-in-law, Billy Poteat and wife Debbie of Hickory; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A family graveside service will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
