WHITE RIVER JUNCTION - Ann Elizabeth Elsie Green, 98, died July 14, 2000, at the Springfield Health and Rehab Center.

She was born Jan. 26, 1902, in England, daughter of James and Emily Dawson.

She grew up and attended school in Lawrence, Mass.

She married Thomas Green on June 16, 1923, and lived in Methuen until 1936 when they moved to Andover, Mass. He died in 1977.

Mrs. Green began working at the Arcadia Woolen Mill in Methuen at the age of 14. She and her husband owned and operated a gas station in Andover, retiring in 1952.

They summered in Melvin Village, N.H., and wintered in Lakeland, Fla., before moving to White River Junction in 1976.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed the Bugbee Senior Center.

Survivors include a son, the Rev. James A. Green of White River Junction; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Anton of Andover, Mass., and Mildred Buckley of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. Burial will follow in Hartford Cemetery.
