Edith “Edie” Irene Chivers, 64 of Burtchville passed from her earthly home surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 19, 2018 after a 6-week battle with aggressive Lymphoma cancer.
She was born on March 24, 1954 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to the late John G. and Beverly A. Chivers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend to many.
Edie was employed by AT&T from 1984 until 2006 when she was forced into early retirement due to medical issues.
She had many activities that brought her great joy; Scrapbooking & card making with a group of crafty girls, working on genealogy, as well as spending time horse playing with her siblings, friends and relatives. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and enjoying the times she got to spend with them. Her proudest and most personal accomplishment was the day she became a Naturalized US Citizen on, September 8, 2014.
Edie is survived by her son, Christopher (Kate) Chivers of Hazel Park, MI. and daughter, Marilee Rahn of Indianapolis, IN. One granddaughter, Katarina Chivers and three grandsons, Alexander Chivers, Alden and Bryce Meyer. Siblings, Donna (Gary) Demeray of Prince George, British Columbia; John (Judy) Chivers of Port Huron; Wanda (John) Green of Kimball; Lynn (Ben) Burtch of Wallaceburg, Ontario, David Chivers of Port Huron; and Rebecca (Sean) Woods of Port Huron. Aunts, Louise Fowle of Burtchville; Midge (Lynnwood) Ripley of Chatham, Ontario; Uncles Ernie (Judy) Chivers of Sarnia, Ontario; Rick (Dee) Chivers of Edmonton, Alberta; and Daniel W. Hutchinson II of Fargo, ND, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John G. Chivers, 2017, Beverly A. Hutchinson-Chivers, 1990 and Grandparents, Several aunts and uncles.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Tom Seppo will officiate.
Arrangements are in care of Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron.
