US Congressman. He graduated from Kansas State University Law School in 1894, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Sedan, Kansas. From 1897 to 1901, he was the prosecuting attorney of Chautauqua County. He was mayor of Sedan from 1921 to 1923 and was engaged in agricultural pursuits. In 1923, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth and to the three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1931. Not a candidate for renomination, he resumed his former business pursuits until his death.
