Brook Miller, 99, of Dunbar died March 24, 2005, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Brook was born July 12, 1905, in Hardman, Preston County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eliza Jane "Janie" (McCartney) Miller. Brook retired from Appalachian Power Company as a mechanic with 34 years of service. He resided in Dunbar for more than 60 years.

Brook was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 66 years. He served on the Deacon Board along with numerous other church positions throughout the years. Brook actively bowled in a seniors league at Dunbar Lanes until he was 97. He was also an avid golfer and loved playing at Cato Park with friends. Brook traveled with the Friendship Force overseas, as well as with the Ina Webb Travel Club.

Surviving: wife, Kathleen Westfall Miller of Dunbar; daughter, Linda Miller Whelan of Plano, Texas; and son, Donald Miller of Denver, Colo.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston, with the Rev. Ron Stoner officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
