Ivan Wilson Austin was born in Brainerd, Minn., on Sept. 22, 1916 and died on his farm south of Peru on Aug. 6, at the age of 68. He was the son of Robert and Martie Austin.
He married Pauline Nichols on Oct. 23, 1937 in Winterset. To this union was born two daughters, Donna and Pat. They lived and farmed their entire married life in Madison County. He retired from farming in the fall of 1979 but continued to reside there.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Pauline; two daughters, Donna Tuttle of DeMotte, Ind, and Pat Bower of Indianola; son-in-law, Tom Tuttle of DeMotte, Ind.; four grandchildren, Rick Tuttle and wife Cindy of St. Charles; Michele Bower of Dallas Texas, Sheila Bower of Des Moines and Randy Bower of Indianola; grandson-in-law, Tom Wilmes; and two great-grandchildren, Travis Tuttle and T. J. Wilmes; two brothers, Forrest Austin of Afton and Jerry Austin of St. Charles and one sister Frieda Dodd of Camdenton, Mo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and his granddaughter, Terri Wilmes.
Services for Mr. Austin were held Friday, Aug. 9 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. John W. Long officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.
