Longtime Kenai resident WRIGHT K. BREWIES, 83, died April 22, 2002, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A funeral was at Peninsula Memorial Chapel. Viewing was one hour before the service. Burial was in the Kenai City Cemetery.

Mr. Brewies was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Marion Township, Ouachita County, Ark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II as a tech sergeant. He began working for Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local 367 in 1953. He was the secretary/treasurer for Kimco Inc., which helped build the refinery near Kenai. He later retired from Kimco Inc. Mr. Brewies was also a member of the Kenai Elks Lodge 2425. His hobbies included fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his son, Wayne F. Brewies; granddaughters, Rachelle and Robyn Brewies; and grandson, Ryan Brewies, all of Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
