SARAH DELILAH (SWIGER) was born on Katys Lick Creek, Sardis, Harrison Co., (W.) Virginia, in c.1810, a daughter of CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS SWIGER & ELLENOR (BACKUS). She was raised in Harrison Co., (W.) Virginia.

FIRST WIFE of ANDREW "ANDY" BATES, married in Harrison Co., (W.) Virginia, on January 15, 1833 [Harrison Co., (W) VA, marriage bond dated 12/17/1832]

After their marriage, S. Delilah & her husband, Andy Bates, lived in Harrison Co., (W.) Virginia, where they are listed on the 1840 Harrison Co., (W.) Va., census. Here in Harrison County, their children were born. By later 1840's, they moved into adjacent Doddridge Co., (W.) Va., where she died in 1849 with her infant child born/died in 1849.
