Anne Elizabeth Hale 61, of South Road, Swanzey, NH, beloved mother and wife, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Cheshire Dartmouth Medical Center / Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene, NH after a brief illness.

She was surrounded by her husband, family, and members of her church.

She was born in Marion, MA, June 28, 1951, the daughter of Harold B. and Annette (Hart) Erskine. A long-time resident of Keene, Anne graduated from Endicott College in Massachusetts.

She met her husband, Fred, while shopping for a new car; he was the only man she dated.

They married in 1975, and three years later had their first son; their second soon followed. An elementary education major, Anne devoted her life to educating her boys, from countless hours tutoring with flash cards to being a fiercely devoted and determined advocate in the school system.

She held numerous part-time jobs to supplement the family's income, earning countless friends who could rely on her sense of humor and constant support and love.

Anne bravely and stoically struggled with renal failure and a kidney transplant over the last three years. Never one to complain, she remained the rock for her family and friends, in charge of every holiday, special event, and was a solver of every problem, especially any involving doggie care or dessert.

Family was the most important part of Anne's life. With the telephone, email, and later text-messages (always ending with, "Love you, Mom") she managed the affairs of husband, children, cousins, nephews, and nieces across the country, usually from the comfort of her chair by the window.

On any special occasion she was reigning matriarch, making certain Santa delivered necessities from chocolate to socks, and most especially on her own birthday, when lobster was required.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Fred H. Hale, to whom she meant the world, her two sons, Kevin and Robert, her brother, John, a family that adored and relied on her, a community of friends, and her church family at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11:00AM in the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 125 Goodell Avenue, Swanzey, NH.

Private burial will be in the West Cemetery, Keene, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents, Annette and Harold Erskine.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
