WALES TOWNSHIP--Ernest Wilmer Strong, 84, died Sunday, May 8, 1994, in his home after a long illness.

He was born March 7, 1910, in Belt, Mont., and had been an area resident since 1973. He married Esther R. Saltenberger June 16, 1928, in Deer Lodge, Mont. She died June 9, 1970. He married Imogene Kesner in 1971 in Goodells. She died Dec. 29, 1992.

Mr. Strong was an electrician with Anaconda Copper Co. for 42 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Works for more than 50 years and also belonged to the Sons of Norway. He co-founded and was the former fire chief of the Opportunity, Mont., Fire Department. He was an amateur ham radio operator for more than 60 years using the call letters W8LHD in Michigan and W7EQP in Montana.

He is survived by two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jens (Betty) Hundseid of Vikedale, Norway and Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Jane) Gates of Marysville; daughter-in-law, Donna Rae Strong; three grandsons, Steven Strong, Dale Strong and Glenn Jon Hundseid; granddaughter, Denise Strong Lozano of Santa Clara, Calif.; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Marie Hundseid of Stavanger, Norway; stepdaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leo (Dotty) O'Brien of Jensen Beach, Fla.; sister, Frances Davenport of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; brother-in-law, Foster Morgan of Spokane, Wash.; several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ernest Strong.

Services are 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Ave. The Rev. Ralph T. Barteld of Marysville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Opportunity, Mont.--Michigan Obituaries
