Mrs. Alice (Plimpton) Butterfield, 74, widow of Don Butterfield, died late Monday evening in Putnam Memorial Hospital, Bennington. Ill the past few weeks, she was taken to the hospital Saturday. She had lived here over 50 years. Funeral arrangements had not been completed this noon. Born in Wardsboro Dec. 3, 1876, she was a daughter of Martin V. and Frances (White) Plimpton. After attending Leland & Gray Seminary in Townshend she came here at the age of 18 to work as clerk in the general store of the late C. D. Spencer. Her marriage to Mr. Butterfield took place in 1907. Two children were born to the couple died in infancy. Mr. Butterfield died Jan. 30, 1936. Mrs. Butterfield leaves two nieces and one nephew. A member of the Congregational Church, she had been active in the Woman's Association and other organizations of the church.
