Irene Estelle Kaumans, daughter of Bernard and Rose E. (Walther) Jurgensmeyer was born November 5, 1920 in Montrose, Missouri. She departed this life April 20, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri at 86 years of age.

Irene spent most of her life in Montrose. She and Carl Kaumans were united in marriage April 6, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, and to this union three children were born. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Irene had worked as a nurse's aide at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri and had been the Assistant Post Master in Montrose. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Being a good community member was important to her. Mrs. Kaumans liked to garden and enjoyed her flowers and birds. She also liked to do needlework and travel.

Preceding Irene in death were her parents; her husband; one daughter Dorothy Munsterman Schwartz, a son-in-law Don Munsterman; and three brothers, George in infancy, Ralph and James Jurgensmeyer. Survivors include her two remaining children Roger Kaumans and wife Denice of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Carol and husband Bill McEwan of Appleton City, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Doug, Dana Kimberly, Stephanie, Valerie and Greg Munsterman, Craig and Juvy McEwan of Arizona, Carla McEwan, Jonathan and Kathleen Kaumans.
