He was a doctor in political science, sociologist, journalist, Peruvian politician and professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

He was one of the leaders and presidential candidate of Izquierda Unida. He was a Congressman of the Republic (1993-2006) and President of the Congress of the Republic (2003 - 2004), as well as Director of the School of Government and Public Policies of the PUCP.

He was known for being one of the most illustrious and loyal politicians in Peru. This is evidenced when, at the time of terror and self-coup carried out by the Fujimorist regime, Congressman Pease faced directly against authoritarianism and dictatorship. The defense of democracy and the rule of law have been a constant without deviation in his life. Despite receiving threats, Henry Pease was not intimidated by fear.
