Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Adams were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, November 3rd at the Somerville Church of Christ. The officiating ministers were Chris Coil, James Cypress and Leo Powers. A Private Interment was on Friday, November 05, 2010 in the Springhill Cemetery of Haywood County. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Tate County, Mississippi, Mrs. Adams was born July 15, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents C. R. W. Freeman and Mattie Louis Richardson Freeman. She was educated in the Mississippi Public School System and was married September 7, 1951 to George Adams, retired Pipe Manufacturer in Eads, who survives.
Mrs. Adams was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Somerville and was an active member of her community for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be remembered as an encourager to others.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughters, Georgia Adams German (Steve) of Oakland and Rita Adams Sewell of Oakland, four grandchildren, Joshua German (Amy), Jane German, Jake German and Adam Sewell, and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Bethany German.
The family requests that memorials be directed to George & Janie Adams Scholarship Fund, Freed-Hardeman University, 158-B Main Street, Henderson, TN 38340.
