He was the son of Wayne and Clara Hilyer.
He was a graduate of Marienville High School and served in the Marines.
Mr. Hilyer worked for the B&O Railroad and also Millen Lumber Company.
He was owner and operator of Hilyer's Flower Shop and Gas Station next door in Marienville.
He is survived by his partner, Laurice Boyd and the following children: daughters, Sheri, Wanda, Faith,Carol,and Laurie; and sons Steve, Dan, Fred, William and Leroy.
He is also survived by four sisters: Margaret carter, Carolyn Silvis, Judy Amsler and Jill Motter and three brothers: Robert, Kenneth and James Hilyer.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Patricia Gadley, Joan Antonacci and Phylis Kahle and a son, Samuel Hilyer, preceded him in death.
