Gene, a Marine, Michigan State graduate and grandfather of 10, died September 6 2018, at 93, after a long battle with COPD. Gene was a life-long lover of sports, especially the White Sox, the Chicago Bears, Notre Dame and anything with the Wilson Sporting Goods "W" on it. Gene worked for Wilson for over 50 years, retiring as Vice President of Team Sports and spent his years there traveling to Spring Training, Super Bowls, Bulls games, World Series games and as many college football practices and games he could fit in. He loved them all! Gene lost his first wife, Roni, to cancer in 1981. They had three children, Mary Alice, John and Lynn and eventually John and Lynn gave him 5 grandchildren. Gene remarried in 1996 to Elizabeth, a widow, who had 2 children, James and Beth, and 5 more grandchildren. Before the COPD, Gene and Elizabeth spent all the time they could seeing the world and doting on their latest addition, Daisy, their spoiled rotten miniature poodle. A life well lived. Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester (2 blks West of Mannhiem Rd.) on Tuesday September 11, 2018, from 9:00am to 10:30 am, proceeding to Divine Providence Church for 11:00am Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
