Rickie's Obituary

Rickie Anderson, 68 of Strandquist passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Larimore, ND.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist, MN with Pastor Mitch Tolpingrud officiating. Burial will follow at Karlstad City Cemetery in Karlstad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Strandquist American Legion Post 466 and Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard.

Rickie Wayne Anderson was born March 26, 1950 in Warren, MN the son of Raymond and Shirley (Larson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist, MN. He attended school in Strandquist graduating from Strandquist High School with the class of 1968. Following high school, Rickie moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked for his uncle Milton Anderson in the landscaping business.

In 1969 Rickie entered into service with the United States Army. He did basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood and did a tour in Vietnam specializing in Artillery. In July of 1970 Rickie returned home when his father passed away. Rickie then became stationed at Ft. Snelling where he was Honorably Discharged from in 1971.

Rickie was united in marriage to Sharon Luoma and they made their home in Edina, MN. To this union two children were born Tara and Rickie Jr. In the mid-1970's the family moved to West Valley Township, just south of Strandquist, MN where Rickie began farming. Over the years Rickie also worked on the petroleum pipeline and for Kraus-Anderson.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake with family and friends. Rickie kept a huge garden and enjoyed being able to share the produce. Rickie was very generous, happy-go-lucky and made friends with everybody.

Rickie was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793 in Thief River Falls, Sam R. Hougard American Legion Post 466 in Strandquist, served on the Strandquist School Board, and church council at Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his children, Tara (Craig) Wolf of Tipton, MO and Rickie (Susan) Anderson of Manvel, ND; grandchildren, Dylan Edwards, Dalton Anderson, Conner Wolf; step-grandchildren, Chandler Wolf, Stephanie Blaschko, Timothy Wilking, Jennifer Wilking; brother, Neil (Lorraine) Anderson of Roseau, MN; nephew, Jonathan Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and step-father, Verne Lefrooth.
