Dora Mary Gordon (nee Cruden), was born in 1881 in Dorset and baptised at Caundle Marsh on the 9th March 1881, the eldest daughter of George Robert Cruden and his wife Martha Clare (nee Breeds). Her father was a gentleman and Major of Militia. His family home was at Shettleston in Lanarkshire and in 1891 the family were living there.

In 1903 she married William Gordon, a Physician. In 1911 they were living in Exeter in Devon with their only son William Ramsay Gordon, who was born in Exeter in June 1904.

Her husband died on the 1st October 1929 at Mowbray House in Heavitree neat Exeter. Her son married in Jamaica and lived in South Africa. He died there in 1951.

Dora died on the 10th October 1960 in hospital n Tunbridge Wells. Her home address at the time was the Beechlands Hotel in Wadhurst in Sussex. She was buried with her sister Annie at St Peter’s on the 13th October 1960.
