Melvin L. "Peanut" Thornberry, 81, of Brownsville, died Sunday, May 6th, 2007, at his residence.
He was born December 17, 1925 in Robbison, KY to Joseph Sr. and Sophie Gabbard Thornberry. In 1944, he joined the US Navy, serving until 1946. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed at Connersville Casket Company, Rex manufacturing, and Design & Manufacturing, until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and enjoyed spending time with friends as the host of the neighborhood coffee club. Peanut also loved to talk on his C.B. radio,He made lots of friends from the C.B. They will all miss his voice and his laugh.

Survivors include his daughter and her husband: Gay Ann & David Wilkins; a brother and sister-in-law: Charles E. "Dink" Sr. & Betty Lou Thornberry, all of Connersville; a sister Martha B. Truett of Chula Vista, CA; two granddaughters Whitney Ann Wilkins and Ashley Lynn Thornberry both of Connersville, two special friends: John & Treva Baker of Connersville, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Mark Alan Thornberry, a brother: Joseph Jr. "Buck", three sister: Ruth Dawson, Mary Taylor, Henrietta Messer.
