Billy Joe "Bill" Childress passed away April 29. He was born August 4, 1929 in Pisgah to Lon and Martha Adcock Childress.
He retired from Weyerhauser Company. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Essie Jester Childress; brother Dois Childress; sisters Willow Mae Applegate and Deen Harris; Step-grandson Derek Jester.
He is survived by his son Johnny Childress (Laurel); stepson Jim Jester (Linda); grandchildren Amanda (Mac), Lauren (Jeremy) and Justin (Jennifer); step-granddaughter Cynthia Jester; 3 great grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday May 2nd and 3rd from 2:00pm-7:00pm and on Thursday May 4th from 10:00am-1:00pm at Gross Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 4, 2023 at 2:00pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
