Born in Gastonia, North Carolina on November 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Frances Barefoot Johnston. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Everett Sampson; and one son, Robert Wayne Sampson.
Mrs. Sampson was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, was retired from Blue Ridge Hospital and after her retirement worked at Timberlake's Drug Store.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Lynn Sampson Loeser; two sons, William Michael Sampson, Lloyd Monroe Sampson, a sister-inlaw, Valita "Nita" Sampson Tomlin; six grandchildren, Arthur "Junior" Loeser, Timothy Allen Loeser, Brian Keith Sampson, Gregory Allen Sampson, Joseph Paul Sampson, Susan Kaye Sampson and eight great-grandchildren.
