Mrs. Mary Brawner Hetfield, 76, of 1233 Lawrence street, N.E., who died Thursday in San Diego, Calif., where she was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Earl Carr, will be buried here in Rock Creek Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hetfield, who had been ill about six months, had been visiting her daughter in San Diego since last December. A native of this city, Mrs. Hetfield was a member of an old Washington family. Her parents were the late William H. and Emily Bernardine Orme Brawner and belonged to the Army-Navy Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Long active in church work, Mrs. Hetfield was one of the original members of St. Anthony's parish, which she helped organize. She was a pioneer resident of the Brookland section. Her husband, the late Charles K. Hetfield, a Civil war veteran, died about 20 years ago.
Besides Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Hetfield is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Maxwell O. Johnson, Honolulu; two sons, Dr. W. B. Hetfield, of San Francisco, an Army surgeon; Francis W. Hatfield this city; three sisters, Mrs. Emily B. Woodward, Miss Fances Brawner and Miss Eleanor B. Brawner, all of Washington and four grandchildren.
