She graduated from Central High School in 1951. Barb married Lawrence (Bud) Bernard Gordon, later divorcing. She met Ray R. Miller and they married December 1st 1962. Barb lived most of her adult life in Duluth, MN on E. 5th Street. She had many jobs throughout her adult life: a waitress at Boyce Drug’s snack bar and at Jock’s Eat Shop, the shipping dept. at MN Woolens, a teacher’s aide at Nettleton Elementary School, a dispatcher at Allied Taxi, and many years of babysitting for family members. Several different nursing homes became her final residences.
Barb enjoyed entertaining and her home was always full of family and friends visiting over a cup of coffee, baking and playing cards (Moosejaw Rummy being a particular favorite). Babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought Barb some of her greatest joy and she always made her family feel as if they were paramount.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Marie Harris; husbands: Bud Gordon and Ray Miller; daughter, Shelley McDermond; and her brothers; Michael and Richard Harris.
Barb is survived by her children: Bruce (Gayle Schandel) Gordon, Sharon (Steve) Lenzen, Sandra (Alphonzo) Flying Cloud, Vicki Hanson, Kathy (David) Dupuis; favorite and only daughter-in-law, Mary Gordon; brother, David (Paula) Harris; sister, Kathy (Gene) Brackett; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
