Doris E. Siferd, 99, resident of Monticello
Doris E. Siferd, 99, resident of Monticello, died at 2:45 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, in White County Memorial Hospital.
She was born at Carroll County on Aug. 12, 1904. She married Charles S. Siferd on Jan. 30, 1932. He died on Nov. 10, 1990.
Doris had lived in the White/Carroll County area all of her life and was a 1923 graduate of Burnettsville High School.
She was a graduate of Terra Haute Normal (ISU) and North Manchester College.
Doris was a school teacher at Yeoman, Brookston, Meadow Lake and Reynolds for 38 years, retiring in 1967. Her last six years before retiring were teaching in Reynolds.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello.
She is survived by daughter Margery (Nick) Nichter of Canby Minn.; sisters Ida Fay Blaisdell of Saddle Back Fla. and Velma McLochin of Lake Placid, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild and 23 nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death sisters Mary McCleland, Josephine Vanata, Vera Bruce, Delma Sanders; brother Fred Sanders; one grandchild and two nieces.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce C. Hurley officiating.
Burial will take place Wednesday in the Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.
Memorials may be given to the wishes of the donor.
