NORFOLK - On July 1, 2007, the Lord called His servant, Dorothy Frances Drayton home to be with Him. She died peacefully in her home at the age of 76. She was the daughter of the late John Henry Williams and Eva Wiggins Williams. Dorothy was predeceased by her grandmother, Frances Wiggins; her grandfather, George Wiggins; and her brother, Master Chief Rowland O. Williams formerly of Sedro Woolley, Wash.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Norfolk, where she accepted the Lord at an early age. She worked many years for Norfolk Community Hospital and for the City of Norfolk's Cemetery Division.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory a very loving and devoted daughter, retired Maj. Ercelle Drayton of Detroit; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Williams; three nephews, Gregory Williams, Breon Williams and Kevin Williams; a niece, Morgan Williams; a grand nephew, Jonathan Williams; a grand niece, Erin Kinch (Jarren), all of Seattle. Also mourning her loss are her faithful caregiver and neighbor, Adeline Lassiter; her "adopted" sister, Lorna Bouldin; sisters and brother-in-Christ, Dorothy Anthony, Esther Sumler and Dempsey Sumler; and many special and devoted friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Shiloh Baptist Church, 745 Park Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Robert L. Davenport. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery. The body may be viewed in Riddick Funeral Home, 1225 Norview Ave., Norfolk, Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. The family will receive friends in her home in Norfolk, where all will gather at 10 a.m. Monday for the procession to the church.
