Funeral services for Loretta I. Huber, 88, Aberdeen, SD, and formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, will be 10:00am, Friday, September 21, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, with Pastor D.T. Rawerts officiating. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Loretta died Thursday, September 13, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

Loretta Irene Blumhardt was born December 18, 1929 in Bowdle, SD to Frank and Carolina (Walth) Blumhardt. She lived with her family on a farm northeast of Bowdle and attended rural school. In 1941 she moved with her family to Roscoe and attended school there, and in 1945 moved back to Bowdle where she lived with her mother. She graduated from Bowdle High School in 1947.

She married Wilmer Schaible in Bowdle in 1948. They were in the Chevrolet Dealership and Farm Equipment business with his father. Wilmer died in November 1996.

In Bowdle she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She served in all executive offices in Ladies Aid. She worked at the Red Owl Store, Gross Brothers Store, and was employed by the School District as the secretary to the Superintendent and the School Secretary.

In 1983 she and her husband moved to Aberdeen, SD. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid where she served on the executive committee. She also served on the executive committee of Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society.

She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, did volunteer work at the Gift Shop at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and of the Senior Citizen’s Organization. She also volunteered at the church.

In January 2001 she married Robert E. Huber of Sioux Falls, SD and they made their home in Sioux Falls.

In Sioux Falls she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Organization.

After Bob’s death in June 2003, Loretta moved back to Aberdeen and continued her volunteer activities and her attendance at Trinity Lutheran Church.

She spent the last several years living at Bethesda Nursing Home in Aberdeen.

In her lifetime she enjoyed taking care of her family, doing crafts, needlepoint, sewing, gardening, traveling, playing Bridge, and reading.

She is survived by: three sons: Leon (Kella), Arlyn (Sherri), and Scott (Renae); daughter-in-law, Pam; seven grandchildren: Brian Schaible, Derek (Alissa) Schaible, Ryan (Connie) Schaible, Alexandra Schaible, Heather (Derek) Sotiros, Adam Schaible, Crystal (Bryce) Cochrane; ten great-grandchildren: Kailey, Madison, Anna, Shanayea, Robert, Julia, Jack, Sophie, Kadin, and David.

Preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Carolina Blumhardt; five siblings: Robert, Ruth, Ted, Alma, and Ella; husbands: Wilmer Schaible and Robert Huber; her son, Donn, and granddaughter, Tanya.

Honorary Pallbearers: God Son, Tim Schaible, granddaughter, Heather Sotiros, Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Casket Bearers: Brian Schaible, Derek Schaible, Ryan Schaible, Alexandra Schaible, Adam Schaible, and Crystal Cochrane.
