Grace and Charlie left Pennsylvania to come to Arvada, Colorado in 1952 where they raised their sons. For the past 25 years, Grace lived in the Colorado Lutheran Home (now called Arbor View), initially residing in the independent living apartments before progressing to assisted living and finally spending the last couple of years in the skilled nursing facility.
As the family matriarch, Grace poured her love into baking outstanding pies and cakes, helping others, and gracefully watching all of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities. She loved sports of all kinds and enjoyed playing miniature golf. Fondly known as Grandma Grace, she found previously undiscovered artistic talent in her later years, with her pieces auctioned off at the Alzheimer’s Association for the past three years. Walking was not just a hobby for her, but a competitive sport, and one of the keys to her longevity. She also firmly established a family tradition where pies became an accepted breakfast food. The great grandchildren remain forever grateful.
The memorial service will be held at Arvada Presbyterian Church. 5592 Independence Street, Arvada on Tuesday, June 12that 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to Arvada Presbyterian Church, 5592 Independence Street, Arvada, CO 80002 or Collier Hospice Center c/o Lutheran Medical Center Foundation, 8300 West 38thAvenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
