Charles was born March 24, 1931 in Enon Valley, PA, son of the late James and Alma Sprenger Rhodes.
He was a resident of Beaver and Lawrence Counties in PA most of his life before moving to East Palestine, OH a number of years ago. He was a proud US Army Veteran and served in Japan as a Mechanic Supervisor for military vehicles during the Korean War. He was a member of the God's Haven of Rest Church and the American Legion Post 31 in East Palestine. He worked in the family business at James K. Rhodes, Inc. in Enon Valley, where he held various positions throughout his career.
He is survived by a son, Timothy (Betty) Rhodes of Brewton, AL; two daughters, Kathleen (Ken) Riggle and Shirley (Russ) Pieri both of East Palestine; brother, Robert Rhodes of Ambridge, PA; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Moudy Rhodes in 2001; son, Charles Rhodes, Jr.; two great granddaughters, Contessa and Gretchen Shepherd as well as a niece, Kelley Rhodes-Hope.
The family will receive friends at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine Monday September 17, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM as well as one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. He will be interred at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
