Ben Carlyle Bateman age 97, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family March 6, 2022, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Bateman is survived by daughter Patricia McLean (John); son Benny Bateman (Dianne); grandchildren, Carl Bateman, Carly Bateman, Clay Bateman, Brandon Bateman, Damon Hanvey; eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews.

Carlyle enlisted in the Marines in March 1943 and graduated from Central High School in May 1943. Mr. Bateman spent a year on Midway as WWII ended.

Carlyle served as Executive V.P., Secretary/Treasurer of Thompson Machinery (formerly Thompson and Green Machinery) for 38 years from 1948 until retirement in 1981.

Mr. Bateman was a long time member of First Baptist Church Donelson for over 60 years. Services are scheduled at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens 535 Shute Lane on Friday March 11, 2022, with visitation from 11:00am-1:00pm. Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00pm with Dr. Gordon Donahoe officiating. Private entombment following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Bateman's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
