A native of Franklin County, Alabama and a lifetime resident, he was a member of Belgreen Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 428 Belgreen, and was very active in community service. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and was a machinist as well as a cattle farmer. He also served his country in the U.S. Army.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Belgreen Cemetery.
Preceding him in death were his parents,Thomas Jefferson and Arrie Alton McNatt Sumerel; brothers: James, Ray, and Mitchell Sumerel; and sisters, Inez Sumerel and Mary Alton Sumerel Richardson.
