John Allen Graves, age 81 of Westmoreland, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 23, 2018. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

John was the 1st born of 11 children to Audine and Annie Lou (Coley) Graves on May 28, 1937. He graduated Westmoreland High School in 1956. He married Peggy Sue Haskins on June 29, 1957. They were married for 61 years and had four girls. John rededicated his life to the Lord during the annual revival at New Hope Church on Nov. 5th 1968 and in his own words "owned the call" to preach God's Word on March 30th 1970. His first sermon was preached at New Hope Church on April 3rd that same year. John went on to pastor numerous churches during his life where he was blessed to see many people accept Christ as their Saviour. John had a heart for the lost and anyone who ever met him would never walk away without hearing him tell them about the Lord and how much Jesus loved them.

John is survived by his wife, Peggy. His daughters and sons-in-law; Vickie (Calvin) Gregory, Rita (David) Leath, Sue (Junior) Holmes, Kelly (Larry/Bubba) Meadors. Grandchildren; Andy (Kristen) Leath, Mary Beth (Brandon) Williams, Derrick (Coty) Gregory, Brad (Jessie) Leath, Darren Gregory, Matthew (Chelsie) Holmes, Nichole (Andrew) Johnson, Adam (Lavina) Holmes, Bailey Meadors, Blake Meadors, 14 great grandchildren, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audine and Annie Lou Coley Graves; his brother, Billy Ray Graves; and his sister, Peggy Sue Graves Carter.

John was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed, but he is rejoicing around the throne of Heaven with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
