Ralph Edward Kelch, age 88 of Moundsville passed away on September 20, 2018 at home.
He was born August 26, 1930 in Sistersville, WV the son of the late Rex and Madge Calabaugh Kelch.
Ralph was a man of many talents and skills. During his life, he worked as an auto body repairman for Dutch Gellner; worked as a painter and carpenter; and for most of his life, he was an Ironworker for Local 549 & 550, where he became known by his fellow workers as “Spud Wrench”.
He was a faithful member of the Hillview Terrace Church of Christ, where he was one of the original members of the congregation, having devoted many hours working alongside others in the construction of the current church building and the West Virginia School of Preaching.
Ralph’s favorite pastime was camping at the family camp in Big Bear Lake near Hazelton, WV; where he enjoyed fixing breakfast for all the family. In years past, he also enjoyed hunting squirrel and deer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Kelch Law; and a brother, Robert Kelch.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Patty Lightner Kelch; a daughter, Rebecca J. (Randy) Chamberlain; three sons, David (Jenny) Kelch, Danny (Carol) Kelch, and Scott (Susie) Kelch; grandchildren, Randall S. Chamberlain, Amy (Tony) Romano, Marisa Chamberlain, Jessica (Brad) Horst, Evan Kelch, Jeremy (Lisa) Kelch, Danielle (Chris) King, Hunter Kelch, and Becca Kelch; and great-grandchildren, Kyrsten and Rebecca Romano, Skyler Peppers, Isabella and Jackson Horst, and Gunner, Brock, and Adaline King.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 11am until time of funeral service at 12noon at Hillview Terrace Church of Christ, 1 Willard Ave., Moundsville with Andy Robison officiating.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.
