Roy Herman Boesdorfer, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Pleasant Plains, died at Lewis Memorial Christian Village on Friday, September 21, 2018 with his family by his side. Roy was born on August 8, 1934 to George and Helena (Renken) Boesdorfer in Springfield, Illinois.

On December 18, 1954, he married Georgianna (Jo) Reburn at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Farmingdale, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Boesdorfer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman Boesdorfer, Walter and Minnie Boesdorfer, Elmer and Doris Boesdorfer, Rolland and Berneice Boesdorfer and Louise Boesdorfer.

Roy graduated from Pleasant Plains High School, and was employed as a semi-truck driver by several trucking companies over his lifetime. He was a die-hard Cubs and NASCAR fan. Roy was active in his church, Zion Lutheran Church, as Congregational Chairman, Elder, Trustee and Usher. He was also active in the Pleasant Plains Jaycees and served on the volunteer fire department in Pleasant Plains for many years.

Roy is survived by his wife, Georgianna (Jo); daughters, Sue (Ken) Matzat, Sally (Jim) Manker and Janie Heard. He has six grandchildren, Jenny Thompson (companion, David Darnell), Adam (Megan) Matzat, Rob (Katie) Manker, Andy Manker, Mary (Dave) Harris and Jonathan (Stephanie) Heard. He also has nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way. His brother, Clarence, also survives as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church. There will be an additional visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 with Pastor Donald Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
