Monroe Hayes, of Calera passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Calera, OK at the age of 85. Monroe was born April 17, 1933 in Atoka, County to George Wesley Hayes and Lulla Bell (Hunter) Hayes. He married Zelma Lee Carter on August 10, 1952 in Phillips, TX. They moved to the Durant area from Dumas, TX in 1971. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Durant. Monroe enjoyed fishing, hunting, charity gardening, and was fondly known as "Crawdad" Paw Paw.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Lula Hayes and wife Zelma Hayes in May 2007.

Monroe is survived by one son David Hayes and wife Janice of Calera, two daughters Delois Ann White of Pottsboro, Tx, and Denise Goza and husband Mike of Roscoe Ill., and one brother Glenn Hayes of Lakeport, Ca., 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Darrell Bunch officiating. Family hour will be held from 6-8 PM, Monday, September 24, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Kingston Cemetery with Kris Patton, Johnny White, Brodie Goza, Ryan Patton, Matthew Patton, Tim Lee, and Michael Phillips serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Goza, Wesley Goza and the men from his Sunday school class.
