OBITUARY
Shirley Maxine Sanders
JUNE 29, 1936 – AUGUST 28, 2017
Shirley Sanders passed away peacefully, at her home in Austin, Texas on, August 28th, 2017 at the age of 81. Shirley is preceded in death by, her husband of 62 years, Wesley Sanders; father, Wilburn Drake; Mother, Vada Inez Dawson and Step father, Robert Dawson; and brother, Doyle Drake.

Shirley is survived by her son, Butch Sanders and girlfriend, Diana Schmitt; daughter Vicki Sabatino Barnette and husband, Paul Barnette; daughter, Debbie Belvin and husband, Glenn Belvin; and sister-in-law, Lavergne Sanders.

Shirley is also survived by grandchildren, Amber Wallace and husband, Zach Wallace; Scott Eason and wife, Sarah Eason; Nathan Belvin and fiancé, Carly; Kaci Strube and husband, Glenn Strube; Nichole Sabatino, Michael Sanders, Becky Barnette and boyfriend, Corey Reece; and great-grandchildren, Misty Wallace, Autumn Wallace, Aubrey Wallace, Hunter Sanders, Maddy Eason and Reagan Reece; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born on, June 29th, 1936 to Wilburn Drake and Vada Inez Dawson in, Georgetown, Texas. Shirley married the love of her life on, August 14th, 1953 and soon welcomed 3 children. Shirley was actively involved in the PTA at Brentwood Elementary, where her kids attended school.

Shirley and her husband Wesley, went into business in 1978. Shirley loved going fishing with her husband, Wesley and was a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club. Shirley enjoyed bowling and Bingo in her free time. Her passion was genealogy. You could walk into her house on any given day and 9 times out of 10, she would be working on ancestry. Family was the most important thing to Shirley. If there was a family gathering, you can bet she’d be in attendance. Shirley adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was thankful for the time she spent with them.

Shirley was the strongest, most loving, and most selfless person you will ever meet. Shirley loved a good laugh and that laugh was contagious; it would fill the room. Shirley touched many lives and she will forever live within those she touched.

Shirley will be missed by her loved ones, but we must remember; we have a guardian angel looking over us.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
