Precious daughter of Ruffin Brown Nance
and Margaret Roxie (Alexander) Nance

In April of 2023, I was contacted by findAgraver
contributors Ken & Sheila Lence (# 47358794)
stating that they believed this memorial to be a
duplicate of memorial # 13977971 and in need
of being removed. They also said that findAgrave
staff refused a merge since they were in two
different cemeteries (which is normal policy,
I believe)

This memorial was created from family burial
records, which stated that this infant was in
Ripley Cemetery in Ripley, Mississippi.
and
without knowledge of (nor match to) memorial
# 13977971

There have been instances of gravestones in
two locations. Often with a record to indicate
which is the actual burial and which is just a
cenotaph (a memorial gravestone which does
not have actual burial nor any remains).

If such information cannot be found for this
wee one, not quite a month old, showing
proof of burial or memorial, then its likely in
the best interest of genealogical records for
both of the memorials to remain with a note
indicating that memorial # 13977971 was
found with an actual gravestone and, thereby,
that this memorial is likely a cenotaph or just
a family record noted in error. Of course, there
are other things that may've happened but as
it all occurred in 1894 and her actual obituary
doesn't mention her place of interment, it may
no longer be possible to know.
