Capt. Frank C. Leathers, a well-known Mississippi steamboat captain about forty years of age, disappeared from his home on 15 May 15 1909. His body was found floating in the Mississippi River near McLellanville on May 22. Burial was at the "New St. Louis Cemetery," now known as St. Louis Cemetery no. 3. Capt. Leathers's wife and two young daughters survived him.
