Leslie D. Ginther, 47, a resident of Happy Haven Road, died Wednesday morning, Dec 2, surrounded by family and friends at her residence after a courageous 16-month battle with cancer She was born June 4, 1951, in New York City. She has also resided in Los Angeles, and had attended Beverly Hills High. She moved to Vermont 22 years ago from Colorado. Mrs. Ginther graduated from Greenfield Community College in June 1997 as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at Faron Care Center in Turners Falls, Mass. She also worked at Poncho's Wreck waitressing for many years, and worked as a real estate broker for Berkley & Veller from 1984-92. She was an accomplished gardener whose perennials were admired by all. She loved her close friends who, along with the community, have supported her through her illness. She is survived by her mother, Liz Hastings of West Townshend; a son. Demian Ginther of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Joan Anderson of New York City; two brothers, David Bassman of Los Angeles, and Robert Bassman of Dallas; a close friend, Jane Schaeffer of North Bennington; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilmington, with the Rev. Joseph Tate, C.S.C., officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home on Main Street on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m For those who desire, gifts in Mrs. Ginther's memory may be made to the Women's Metastatic Cancer Group, through the Covey & Allen Funeral Home, P.O.
