Ruth F. Browne, 92 years of age, died, Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Hartville Care Center, Hartville, MO,
after a long illness.

Ruth was born June 9, 1924 in Yukon, OK to Israel & Ferol Allard. Her Father died 2 months later and her Mother subsequently married Henry Steddom who adopted Ruth when she was 7 years old. They lived in EL Reno. OK until Ruth was a junior in high school at which time they moved to Muskogee, OK Upon graduation, Ruth attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, OK. September 18, 1943 she was united in marriage with Roy E. Tomlinson. During 1960 and 1962, two children were adopted during their marriage. Unfortunately it was necessary the marriage be dissolved in 1964 and Ruth had the task of raising the children by herself.

That she accomplished by continuing her 32 years outside the home career that included work with the U.S. Army, the U. S. Navy, the Veterans Administration, the U. S. Air Force, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Internal Revenue Service, and culminated with 25 years with the U. S. Marshals Service.

After a 40 year absence, Ruth became reacquainted with a family friend, Roy W. Browne, who had recently lost his wife of over 50 years. Following a brief courtship, they were married and lived happily on Roy’s farm at Hartville, Mo.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Caroline Buck. She is survived by her husband, Roy, a son, Jefferson Tomlinson, Houston, TX, a daughter, Susan Tomlinson, Eureka springs, AK, 2 step-daughters, Gloria Browne, Azle, TX, and Patricia Ward, St. Augustine, FL, 2 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
