Kari Lynne (Kribell) Caruthers, 43, of Yankton, SD passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford, SD. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at St. Teresa Catholic Church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Kari was born October 7, 1974 in Sioux City, IA, the youngest child of Lewis and Gloria Kribell. Kari graduated from Beresford High School in 1993 and received her Bachelor’s of Nursing degree from Mount Marty College in 2011. She was drawn to this profession because of her desire to care, to serve and to help others. She had a caregiver’s soul at work and at home.

Kari married the love of her life, Craig Caruthers, Sr. on September 21, 2007. She was currently a Charge Nurse at the SD Human Services Center where she had been employed since 1995.

She adored her husband and her children, they were her passion in life. She spent countless hours with them enjoying the sport of archery and just being their loving wife and mom. Her other interests included gardening and spoiling her pets.

Beyond blessed to have shared her life, are her husband, Craig; their daughter, Jaelyn Caruthers; sons, Antonio, Craig Jr, Joshua and Esteven Caruthers; her parents, Lewis and Gloria Kribell, Alcester, SD; her brothers, Jeff (Debbie) Kribell, Brandon, SD, Jim (Connie) Kribell, Beresford, SD, Jere (Andrea) Kribell, Lennox, SD, Dan (Paula) Kribell, Bellevue, NE, Tom Kribell, Alcester, SD and Rob (DeAnne) Kribell, Beresford, SD; her uncles, Jerry Harrington, Pantego, TX and Alvin Bystrom, Alcester, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lew and Katherine Kribell and August and Signe Bystrom; her nephew, August Thomas Kribell, and her mother-in-law, Johnnie Thompson.
