Maynis was born on March 28th, 1925 in rural Joice to Lauritz and Anna Larson on the family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Joice. After graduation from Joice High School she attended college at Waldorf in Forest City. Maynis and Carroll were married at Concordia Church on Oct. 10th, 1947.In 1950, Maynis and Carroll moved to a farm west of Northwood and lived there until moving to town after retiring from farming.
In addition to being a farm wife and devoted mother, she ran the lunch counter for the Northwood Sale Barn, worked at Harv and Dick's Grocery Store, and at the Worth County
Treasurer's Office for over twenty years.
Maynie loved people and was very active in volunteer roles including the First Lutheran Church where she shared her Christian faith in her ladies circle group for over 60 years. Maynie, also, served on the board of the Worth County ARC. She served on the Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary Board, and with the VFW Post 6779 Ladies Auxiliary for over fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll who died on June 4th, 2009; infant daughter, Ann Marie; son, David; daughter-in-law, Linda; her parents; brothers, Leroy (Mary Lou) Larson; Norman (Marilyn) Larson; Royden (Dorothy) Larson; Wallace (Beverly) Larson; her sister, Ivanelle (Joe) McKissick; great grandchild, Alana Lyn Waver; brothers and sisters-in-law, DeVere Steffensen, Orian and Elaine Aamodt; and Virgean and Donald Hogan.
She is survived by 3 children, Craig (Mary) Aamodt of Steward, IL; Lori Aamodt of Austin, MN; and Robert (Julie) Aamodt of Lake Mills, IA; daughter-in-law, Peggy (Dick) Hassett of Mediapolis, IA; grandchildren, Carl (Jasmen) Aamodt, Larissa Aamodt, Ryan Aamodt, Nathan Aamodt, Tyler Aamodt, Aaron (Becky) Aamodt, Cory (Renee) Aamodt, Scott Aamodt; great grandchildren, Hannah and Abigail Aamodt; brother and sisters-in-law, Don and Faye Aamodt and Clarine Steffensen, along with many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
