GASTONIA - Earl Edward Carswell, 75, died Sept. 22, 2008, at his residence.

He was born May 7, 1933, in Cherokee County, son of the late Ed and Annie Dye Carswell.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment is at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.

He was retired from Beam Construction and was a member of New Life Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Darryl Carswell and wife Lori of Gastonia and Gary Carswell and wife Angela of Grover; daughters, Sue Wallen of Asheville and Ellen Love of Hendersonville; brothers, Harold Carswell and Charles Carswell of Murphy; sisters, Zinnie Johnson of Gastonia, Linda Carswell Kephart and Marty MacDonell of Murphy and Lucy Huggins of Gastonia; 14 grand-children and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Grant Carswell; brother, Everett Carswell; and sister, Patricia Carswell.
Dr. Gene Ware will be officiating.
