Doug and Marty were married May 25, 1973 and were blessed with three children, Kari, Erica and Matt.
The summer of 1984 they decided to move to Alexandria and raise their family. Doug spent many years with Juno Plastics till the time he retired. Doug so loved woodworking as that would take up a good part of his days once he retired. He was the wooden toy maker. He also enjoyed fishing and golf with his family and grandkids. Doug belonged to the Vietnam Veterans Association, USS Oriskany Group, VFW, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
Every year, Doug and Marty would travel to the Oriskany Reunion and enjoy that time with his shipmates.
Doug passed away peacefully at home. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Gretchen Domian.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marty; daughters: Kari (Seth) Knudson of Bemidji, Erica (Corey) Schroeder of Willmar and son: Matthew (Val) of Alexandria; 6 grandchildren: William, Kyler, Annika, Eland, Drew and Nora. He is survived by his twin brother Steven (Jean) of Minneapolis and Bradley (Renee) of Rosemount; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Prayer service at 5:00 PM and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at St Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Ft Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to: Veterans Memorial Park, PO Box 733, Alexandria, MN 56308 or to donor’s choice.
