Ruth Elizabeth Darden Sale passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Archibald Sale, and a grandson, H. Paul Young, Jr. Surviving family members are two daughters, Lucy Dunbar Limbaugh and Betsy Adams and two granddaughters, Katherine Elizabeth Evans and Virginia Lee Wallace. Ruth Sale graduated from Beaumont High School, Beaumont, TX in 1936 and received the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in 1940. An aspiring Violinist, Ruth traveled throughout Europe in 1938 with the Louisiana State University Symphony and later played violin with the Beaumont Symphony orchestra. Ruth attended Washington Boulevard Christian Church, and as a young adult, attended First Methodist Church in Beaumont where she met her future husband, Joe Sale, in the Alpha-Omega Class. After World War II, Ruth began her life's work teaching elementary school. Ruth and Joe enjoyed living in several states where they devoted their energies to the growth of their churches' building programs. Ruth was described by friends as a "sweet spirit" and devoted Christian who shared her gifts through prayer ministries. She was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church, Houston and a lifetime member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
