FRANK KERSCHER

(1890 - 1967)

Frank Kerscher, 77, of Francis Creek, died Monday at Manitowoc County Hospital where he was a patient six months.


Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Sauer Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. John Haen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Military gravesite rites will be conducted by Drews-Bleser American Legion Post No. 88 of Manitowoc.


Mr. Kerscher was born May 25, 1890, son of the late Wenzel and Theresa Staubel Kerscher, and married Emma Hassemer June 23, 1919, at St. Ann Church.


The couple farmed in the town of Kossuth 15 years and then moved into the village where he was janitor at St. Ann Church and School. He entered U.S. Army Service July 22, 1918, and was discharged Feb. 7, 1919, as a member of the 35th Field Artillery. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Catholic Knights Branch No. 86 of Francis Creek, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Legion post.


Survivors are his four daughters, Mrs. Albert (Sylvia) Bolzenthal of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Mrs. Joseph (Marion) Porubcansky and Mrs. Leo (Marcella) Dirkman of Francis Creek, and Mrs. Paul (June) Freimuth of Kellnersville; a sister, Mrs. Rose Wery of Menominee, Mich., eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A brother, a stepbrother, four sisters and a stepsister preceded him in death.


Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday where at 8 p.m. the Rosary will be recited.
