Abraham was the son of Pearce and Jane Hocking Rogers from England. He married Sarah Ann Merret on 9 July 1870 in Illogan, Cornwall, and they had 7 children with 2 surviving including Ellen (1870) and Abraham Jr. (1880-1919). He immigrated in 1884. Abraham was a miner and then a night watchman. He died from myocarditis at the age of 74.
