Jeannette T. Burns, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs. A resident of Cohoes for most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Bella (Carey) White. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Patrick R. Burns; sister, Patricia Rosenberger; brothers, George and Richard White; grandson, Kenneth White; daughter-in-law, Melanie Burns. She is survived by her brother, David (Lori) White; children, Kenneth (Vanessa) White, Sharon (Marc) Hopfenspirger, Melody Kingsley, Joy (Steven) Heyman, Dawn White, John (Linda) Burns and Robert Burns; as well as 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jeannette and her husband were passionate about veteran affairs, both holding leadership positions throughout the 1970's at E. T. Ruane Post 476, American Legion. Jeannette served as president of the auxiliary three times, initially taking over the office from her mother after she passed away, and ending her service as county chairwoman in 1977. Jeannette was the singer in the popular local band the Jamboree Pals in the 1950's. She bowled at Olympic Lanes for many years. She loved traveling, playing cards, and was the number one fan of the N.Y. Yankees. Most significant in her life was her family. The greatest gift she gave her children was to instill in each of us the importance of family. Jeannette had wit, a sense of humor and spunk that will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Saratoga, especially Arlene Lyons and Karen Buczkowski for their dedication and support throughout this journey. Our thanks and appreciation to Robin Byrt and Nancy Pompa of Mary's Haven as well as their amazing staff for their endless comfort and loving care. A funeral service will be held in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd, 105 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes on Friday, September 7, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Gregory S. Weider officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Saratoga County, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866 or to Mary's Haven, 35 New St., Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866
