Mr. Wiles was born in Ashe County on Saturday, November 21, 1942 to Lillard and Della Carpenter Wiles.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, brothers, Herman, Jerry, Bill and Earl Wiles, sisters,
Effie Stidhams, Ruby Carpenter, and his wife Barbara Sue Coldiron Wiles.
He served in the US Airforce and was awarded two Certificates of Merit. An active volunteer, he received
may awards including the Governor's Award.
He served as a deacon and enjoyed visiting and going to churches in the community. Jim was very strong in
his faith and was always a witness to others. Even in death he continues to be a witness, leaving a letter
to his family letting them know he "was ready to be with Sue but most of all with Jesus".
Mr. Wiles is survived by, two daughters - Robin Nethery and husband Neal of Lansing, Lisa Brown and
husband Thomas of Creston, one son - Jamie Wiles and wife Katrina of Lansing, eleven grandchildren,
Matt Nethery, Kendra Nethery, Dustin Wiles, Noelle Wiles, Holly Wiles, Brittney Wiles, Sonia Reese, Tyler
Reese, Nick Wiles, T.J. Brown, Jeff Brown six great-grandchildren, Mia Wiles, Guss Wiles, Nattalie Byand,
Brooklyn Byand, Corbin Darnell, Dalton Nethery, two sisters, Hazel Miller of Pennsylvania, Louverne Davis
of Florida, a special friend Mary Blevins of Lansing; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Per Mr. Wiles request, a private graveside service will be held by Elder Roger Peak with Military Rites.
