Widow Of Former Oklahoma Banker Was 89.
Mrs. Lizzie A. Metcalf, 89 years old, widow of George A. Metcalf, a retired Guthrie, Okla. bank president, died last night at the home, 3413 East Sixtieth street after an illness of two months. Yesterday was her birthday.
A native of Maine, Mrs. Metcalf had lived in Kansas City fifty years. Her husband retired from the banking business in 1898, and after a brief residence in Denver, came to Jackson County. He invested in real estate enterprises here before his death in 1929.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. C. L. Houghton of the home; a son, Ralph Metcalf, Olathe, Kas.; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at 3:30 o'clock Thursday at the Newcomer chapel, Brush Creek Boulevard and the Paseo. The family requests no flowers.
